Food and Family

In the gospels, we read about the disciples constantly missing the point of Jesus’ teaching.  After hearing him teach for three years, they still didn’t get it.  But they knew he loved them.  That relationship opened them up to the possibility of meeting the risen Christ.  In the same way, we believe that what we teach our kids is not as important as the relationships we form with them.  Therefore, once a month, members of our church and volunteers from other churches, open their home to small groups of our kids.  We sit around a table and share a meal together…like a family.  We don’t “teach” the kids anything.  Rather, we focus on creating an environment where they feel comfortable to share what is good and what is hard in their lives right now, knowing that they will receive love and support from their table family.  For those interested in hosting a meal, a once a month commitment is required.
